Standard English vs Local English

YouTube:

Malaysian English: The Most Colourful Language in the World

Points of consideration:
What the speaker says has an inch of truth. While it is great to maintain the local english spoken within a country, standard english is also important.

1. Why should local english be maintained within a society?
--> it maintains the cultural flavor of the country, something that is unique and individualistic of each country
--> it is also quite hard to change the linguistic habits of the country's people who has been speaking like this for generations
--> as long as the people within society can understand each other then that's fine

2. Why is standard english important?
--> such that people from other cultures would be able to understand people from the country- communication purposes
